Worcester Helps Give Creature Comforts to St. Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital

Birmingham, United Kingdom, February 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- When boiler and renewable manufacturer Worcester, Bosch Group, heard of a pet sanctuary in need of help it couldn’t wait to get its ‘paws’ stuck in to keep its hedgehogs. As a name that stands for reliability, quality and efficiency they knew they were the right company for the job.

Tiggywinkles approached Worcester whilst designing their new Red Kite Information and Education Centre, to make it as green and energy efficient as possible. On assessment of the situation Worcester’s Greensource air-to-water heat pump ticked all of the boxes; particularly in regards to energy efficiency and potential cost-savings.

Every year in Britain over five million wild animals and birds are injured as a direct result of their encounters with man's world and, as a specialist hospital, Tiggywinkles is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating all species of British wildlife. Treating over 10,000 animal casualties every year, their doors are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and all animals are treated completely free of charge.

Tim Moran, Teaching Hospital Funding Manager at St Tiggywinkles comments:
“The reason we chose Worcester was because we feel, like us, they are the best at what they do! Worcester was recommended by our contractor as one of few big name manufacturers that dealt and specialized with heat pumps - and as such, we felt we could rely on the product!

“Since having the air-to-water heat pump everyone has been kept snug and warm and we can be happy knowing we are doing our bit to help the environment. And of course all the savings we are making as a result!”

In the same way a fridge extracts energy from the air and uses it to cool the inside of the fridge, an air source heat pump extracts energy from the outdoor air and converts it into hot water to be distributed around the heating system or into the hot water cylinder. Air – even cold air – is a constant and inexhaustible source of energy, and Worcester’s Greensource heat pumps work very effectively in outside temperatures as low as -20°C.

Designed to work with existing traditional radiators or underfloor heating, Greensource air-to-water heat pumps transfer the converted heat into water to deliver low-cost, energy saving heating and hot water all year round. They work extremely well with lower temperature heating systems such as under floor heating as well so you may want to think about installing that at the same time. When properly installed, Worcester’s Greensource air-to-water outdoor units are capable of providing up to 4kW of energy for every 1kW used. Greensource air-to-air heat pumps are perfect for space heating and can also operate as an air cooler and purifier using Plasmacluster Ion-technology, which is built into the appliance.
