The Medal Play Golf Tour Visits Ocotillo Golf Club

Chandler, AZ, February 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour visited Ocotillo Golf Club on a cold, blustery, rainy day on Sunday. “The conditions were challenging today,” said tour director Blane Freytag. “We aren’t used to this type of weather here in the desert. Scores were really good despite the weather.”

The most competitive Division of the day was the Sr. Gold Division where Sam Jones, visiting from Saginaw Michigan, and tour rookie Pat Stevens ignored the challenging conditions and posted identical net 69’s to easily outpace the rest of the Division. Jones edged out Stevens on the card playoff to leave town with the victory. Stevens had hot iron play all day claiming both par 3 cash pots, one was nearly a hole-in-one stopping a mere 1 foot 5 inches from the cup.

Todd Ringsmuth of the Championship Division notched another victory, this time over newcomer Joe White, posting a nice net 75. Doc Watts was the low Sr. Championship Division player.

The Sr. Silver Division went to Luther Sander who posted a nice net 69 to rebound from ASU Karsten and claim his first victory of the young season. ASU Champion Jerry Boysen was runner-up. Christopher Desruisseaux was the low Silver Division player on the day.

The tour returns to action with the first major of the year, the Medal Play Masters, on March 6th at Palm Valley GC in Litchfield Park, AZ.
