Mi-Token and Yubico Secure Login and Authentication Solution Implemented at Trident Microsystems

Yubico and Mi-Token Inc. have implemented a combined solution at Trident Microsystems to provide multi-factor login authentication for its staff, consultants and partners.

Sunnyvale, CA, February 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Yubico, a leading provider of easy and secure login solutions, and Mi-Token Inc., today announced that a combined solution has been implemented at Trident Microsystems to provide multi-factor login authentication for its staff, consultants and partners.

Trident Microsystems, a leading provider of innovative semiconductor solutions for digital televisions and set-top boxes, has successfully deployed Mi-Token authentication with the YubiKey® USB device from Yubico in order to enable secure access to its systems from multiple and remote locations without adding more complexity for users.

“A simple user name and password are no longer sufficient for ensuring secure, authorized access to critical systems and information,” said Ed Hunter, information security officer at Trident Microsystems. “The solution from Mi-Token and Yubico delivers the reliability our organization requires, without placing additional burdens on our users because it is so easy to use.”

Trident required a highly-reliable solution. The ultra-thin YubiKey has a rugged, waterproof, crush-resistant design, has no battery or synchronization requirements, and is designed to last far longer than typical hard token solutions.

Trident has strict policies regarding resources that may be accessed on the Internet without an authentication token. At the same time, the organization must support remote workers, consultants and other third-parties that require access to specific information. The Mi-Token and Yubico solution makes it easy for administrators to enable user access to only specific segments, and authenticate to only the resources they need to access.

Typically, when an authentication device fails, organizations must not only purchase a new device, but must also account for user downtime, as well as the costs and the administrative time involved in delivering and re-provisioning the new devices. Moving to the combined Mi-Token and Yubico solution, Trident has reduced its expenses by 50 percent for authentication hardware and software alone, and has greatly reduced its administrative overhead requirements.

“Managing user access in organizations today poses significant challenges in terms of security, expense and productivity,” said Stina Ehrensvärd, CEO and founder of Yubico. “We are pleased that the successful implementation of Mi-Token and Yubico at Trident helps the organization address these key challenges.”
