Creative Flavor Wants Businesses to Stop Wasting Money on Bad Web Design

Each year businesses waste thousands of marketing dollars on badly designed and ineffective websites. In 2011, as budgets are expected to increase, there is potential to waste even more. Creative Flavor is offering tips to help businesses make their investment in a professional website a good one.

Austin, TX, February 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In 2011, most small business marketing budget dollars will be spent on website design projects. But business owners need to beware. Even with good planning, many businesses will end up wasting money on bad design.

“As businesses finalize budgets and start spending, we offer a few tips to avoid getting ripped off by web designers,” says Bill Finch, president of Creative Flavor. “Last year we had a record number of clients contact us to salvage website projects gone bad. Fixing the damage usually costs a company more than was originally budgeted.”

1. Educate Yourself: You don’t have to know everything, but a little understanding about what it takes to make a website a good business investment can go a long way.

2. Pay a Fair Wage: Professional design costs money. Just because you found someone who can “make a website” for the equivalent of $15 an hour, doesn’t mean you should hire them.

3. Check Them Out: Review the designer’s portfolio to see if their designs look good and that the website’s they’ve created are error-free. Don’t hesitate to ask for and check references.

4. Integrate It: Make sure you’ll be able to manage your website’s content and integrate it with social media, analytics and external programs your company may use, such as SalesForce.

5. Agree on a Scope: Get a scope document from the designer that specifically lists what will be delivered to you and how much it will cost.
