Two Home Schoolers Win International Online Christmas Essay Contest with Nintendo Wii Grand Prize

Home schooling students Shellie Low and Hilary Lee win the Learning By Grace, Inc. Christmas essay contest for students aged 10-17 and were awarded with Nintendo Wii.

Philadelphia, PA, February 16, 2007 --(PR.com)-- PreK-12 Home School Program Management Company Learning By Grace, Inc. has chosen two winners for its 2006 Christmas Essay Contest which was run through The MorningStar Academy, The Jubilee Academy, and The Grace Academy. Students all over the globe composed essays on the topic of how their families were "putting Christ into Christmas this year" for the chance to win a Nintendo Wii.

"We were very pleased with our choice of the Nintendo Wii for the award," stated Mimi Rothschild, CEO of Learning By Grace, Inc. "We felt that this gaming system would truly promote family togetherness while playing interactive games that are considered by most to be physical exercise!"

The two winners, Shellie Low of Quincy, Washington and Hilary Lee of Williamsville, New York, couldn’t be more thrilled. These two home school students were both overjoyed to find out that their essays, 'Miracle Baby' and 'Christmas In a Different Light,' had claimed the grand prizes. Upon learning of her victory, Lee exclaimed, “Wow, this is so exciting! Praise God!”

This Learning By Grace Essay Contest was a reaction to Oprah Winfrey's ban of home schoolers from an essay contest she held in February of 2006. Learning By Grace wanted to combat some of the prejudice home schoolers are often forced to endure by holding a contest in which home educated children too could participate.

"We wanted to use our ability to reach millions of people around the world to show that home schooling students needn't be excluded from this type activity. Home schoolers are so often excluded from contests, competitions, and events simply because they aren't part of 'the system.' It's time for this to change," exclaimed Rothschild. "Home schoolers are very intelligent, capable, well-educated young people. Learning By Grace wants to help them show the world that."
