Identity Developments Awarded for the Blues

Identity Developments, a web presence design, development, & management firm in Madison, Wisconsin, receives Web Design Award from DesignFirms.org for the Build Your Own Blues website. The www.buildyourownblues.com website was developed for the 105.5 Triple M, Entercom Madison, LLC. radio station’s Blues festival held in August.

Madison, WI, September 20, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Identity Developments is doing anything but singing the Blues these days. The Madison, Wisconsin web presence design firm was recently awarded a design award from DesignFirms.org. DesignFirms.org awarded 98 out of 99 points for this submission, which was reviewed for creativity and design, programming, and ease of use and effectiveness.

The Build Your Own Blues website, www.buildyourownblues.com, was developed for the 105.5 Triple M radio station for this first ever Blues event. Build Your Own Blues was held August 26 – 27, throughout Madison. BYOB featured a unique combination of free and paid performances in a variety of venues throughout Madison, including performance halls, outdoor stages, parks, street side, restaurants and taverns.

Simultaneous performances at a variety of locations was the foundation of the “build your own” theme and the website carried that theme with a playful twist. Leading up to the event, new website design “themes” were added, such as “Blues Harp,” “Blues Street,” “Blue Notes,” the patriotic “Red, White, & Blues,” and a Wisconsin dairy salute, “Moo Blues,” and others. Visitors could select and change their preferred theme at will, which would dictate the look to the site whenever they returned.

The playful and entertaining theme selection served as a great draw for new and returning visitors. The build theme was carried to more functional purposes as well, with a build your own schedule of performances that visitors could then print off. The site also featured a custom Google mapping application that highlighted the various performance locations with a listing of artists for that location.

The website is a wonderful example that function can co-exist with design. Developed according to XHTML and CSS web standards, the site features scalable fonts and high accessibility for all visitors, printer friendly stylesheet for better printed pages, and graceful degradation of javascript for non-supporting browsers.
