Daegu, Korea, South, March 12, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- Daegu Yangyeongsi Herb Medicine Festival will feature ancient techniques for using herbs in curing illnesses and will include demonstrations on the intricate preparations that go into making the medicines.
A herb medicine market has been operating in Daegu for over 350 years and the festival represents the combined wisdom of the practitioners of this form of medicine. Highlights of the show include the herb chopping competition where participants use large ceremonial knives to finely cut the herbs and judges will be awarding prizes for speed and texture of the finished leaves.
Visitors with any ailments can also attend the medical clinics for a free consultation to see if more traditional means can help with their conditions. Herb pharmacists will also be available to explain the properties of the different varieties and which herbs should be taken to combat certain sicknesses.
Anyone interested in attending the festival should book Daegu hotels
for the first week of May 2011 and head along to Yakjeon-golmok Street where all the exhibitions will take place.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: “Herbal medicine is really popular with Koreans and many people will be joining the event from across the country. Availability at hotels will become restricted so advanced bookings are recommended for people planning on visiting in May.”
