Independent Filmmakers Raise $10,000 in 30 Days for Debut Short Film: The Shooting Star Salesman

Newly-formed Inland Empire production company, Film Imaginarium, LLC, strategically utilizes social media and “crowdfunding” to finance film and attract star talent.

Upland, CA, March 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Recently launched Inland Empire based film and television production company, Film Imaginarium, LLC filmed its debut SAG short film, “The Shooting Star Salesman” in January of this year. The whimsical tale of a door-to-door ageless salesman who sells shooting stars was filmed in the charming city of Upland, CA. Actor Yancey Arias starred as the Salesman, joined by co-star Elijah Velarde, Amanda Pajer, Jason Gedrick and Sydney Tamiia Poitier.

For Film Imaginarium, the film embodies the team’s philosophy about pursuing one’s life’s passion and fighting for one’s dreams. Utilizing the world’s largest online fundraising platform, the creative group secured nearly $10,000 in 30 days to finance their film through “crowd funding”- attaining monetary backing from family, friends, and contacts via expansive word of mouth and strategic social media. “It’s really special the amount of support we’ve received in pursuit of our passion. Even more so because we hope our film will support and encourage our audience to do the same,” said William Camacho, writer and producer of the film.

Several Inland Empire businesses also supported the film through corporate sponsorships, including: Four Points by Sheraton- Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga, 2nd Avenue Antiques, Red Brick Pizza, The Curb Coffee, Rizza Pizza and Spin Q Studios. “The Shooting Star Salesman” is currently in post-production and is slated to enter competition at national and international film festivals this year.
