Scoring Was Hot at the Medal Play Golf Tour Event at Palm Valley

Goodyear, AZ, March 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour scorched Palm Valley Golf Club on Saturday on a bright, sunny, warm spring day. “The conditions were perfect for scoring today,” said tour director Blane Freytag. “Seasonally warm weather, no wind and players playing to their potential all combined for some good scores today.”

The most competitive Division of the day was the Championship Division where Todd Ringsmuth and Doc Watts posted record net 69’s to force a card playoff. Ringsmuth edged Watts on the card playoff with a gutsy birdie on the #1 handicap hole, the famed 18th hole at Palm Valley protected by water down the left side of the fairway and to the left and back of the green. The pin on 18 was all the way in the back of the green, the hardest pin placement on the green. Miss the green off the back and your ball will roll in the water. Ringsmuth went for broke and stuffed a wedge to 2 feet, then calmly rolled the putt in for the victory. Joe White took 3rd over Pat Stevens in another card playoff after both posted nice net 73’s.

Tony Leslie rebounded from a tough event at ASU Karsten to claim his first victory of the young season with a net 70 over Tim Lutz and John Saager. “I played much better today,” remarked Leslie on his play.

Jerry Boysen used his home course knowledge and excellent putting to smoke the course and the field cruised to his second victory this season. Boysen shot so well he dropped his tour handicap into the Gold Division range where he will compete at the next event. Mike Pavlik took 2nd and Christopher Desruisseaux was 3rd.

The tour returns to action at The Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix on April 3rd.
