Diamond Bar, CA, March 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association's (IFWTWA) Excellence Awards program recognizes the world's finest travel and tourism industry professionals as experienced by the organization's journalist members. Sherrye Wyatt, Whidbey and Camano Islands Tourism Public Relations and Marketing Manager, has earned IFWTWA's Award of Excellence in Destination Marketing for her exemplary work in promoting the diverse aspects of the destination she represents.

The award nomination was carefully evaluated and recommended by IFWTWA's Excellence Awards Committee and the award approved by IFWTWA's Board of Directors.

"As a winner of an IFWTWA Excellence Award, Sherrye Wyatt demonstrates the professional standards that represent the best in her industry," said Maralyn Hill, IFWTWA President. "Ms. Wyatt and other professionals in her class set – and raise – the bar in the destination marketing field worldwide."

According to the IFWTWA member journalist who nominated Ms. Wyatt for recognition: “Sherrye Wyatt gives 200% to her role as a destination host and ambassador. She customized my tour, presented a full itinerary and media kit to satisfy my story angles, accompanied me, and introduced me to sources for interviews. She even presented story-worthy angles I never anticipated. Sherrye is completely engaged in promoting her destination, and is a very knowledgeable and personable host. Island County, Washington, could not be better represented.”

About IFWTWA: The International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) is a global network of journalists who cover the hospitality and lifestyle fields, and the people who promote them. In 1956 a group of prominent Frenchmen started rating restaurants. This small group, along with an American, conceptualized an international version of their organization. It became the International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association when formally created as a non-profit organization in California in 1981.
