Anacortes, WA, March 18, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- Andi Bowe, Director of CSIRI.org, an Anacortes non-profit, plays the 10K KAWAI Grand Piano at the local Library from 2-2:30 PM on March 20th, 2011. A selection of classical medleys will include short segments of one of Chopin's Nocturnes (Opus 19 No. 2), Prelude in C or Ave Maria by Bach, a Gershwin tune, and short song segments from other popular tunes of the last century.
CSIRI.org is also sponsoring the 100th Birthday Bash this month for Clara Olive Senff Bowe, a longtime resident who was born in Sedro Woolley and moved here with her family in 1915. An Anacortes High School Graduate, Clara moved away after the depression but returned after retiring from over 20 years as an administrative secretary for General Telephone in Santa Monica, CA to volunteer for 15 years for Meals on Wheels when the senior center was downstairs in the city hall. Clara started the senior exercise program and the senior band, played washtub bass, and was seen walking through town by herself just last year.
Her birthday will be celebrated as a free community event at the Anacortes Library Circle Room on March 26th from 5-7PM. Everyone is welcome to come and meet some living history. This is also the 100th Year celebrating Women's Freedom and the local library is also celebrating its 200th Year.
Clara Bowe's Memoirs are available in book form and the first four chapters are now free online with seven Photogalleries. Links to these and many other exciting ideas and unique art forms are free online at csiri.org.
