Says Claire Volkwyn: “Edward Njoroge has led KenGen through a public listing on the Nairobi Stock Exchange, he is the board member of several companies in East Africa, the chairman of the World Energy Council, Kenyan Chapter and the President of the Union of Producers, Transporters and Distributors of Electric Power in Africa (UPDEA).”

Renewable focus
About 250 industry experts were featured before some 2000 attendees from around 50 countries at African Utility Week this week while more than 135 companies exhibited their products and services for the power and utilities industry.

Three of the five top wind power companies in the world, Goldwind, Suzlon and Vestas, joined the wind rush at the event in what is clearly a huge surge in interest in foreign investment in renewable energy in South Africa and the continent.

The event ended on Wednesday. The next African Utility Week is planned for 21-24 May next year in Johannesburg.
