Top-Tier Tutoring Releases Podcast That Explains the Alphabet Soup of College Admissions and Placement Tests

In his latest podcast, Mike Rivera of Top-Tier Tutoring explains the differences among the SAT, ACT, SAT 2’s and AP exams.

West Orange, NJ, March 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In its latest podcast, Mike Rivera, co-founder, college counselor and tutor with Top-Tier Tutoring, demystifies the sometimes overwhelming “alphabet soup” of college admissions and college placement standardized tests. To listen to the podcast, go to http://bit.ly/hiEQt7.

During the podcast, Rivera goes into detail about the SAT, ACT, SAT 2’s and AP exams, the “alphabet soup” that confronts high schoolers and their parents as they prepare for college. He gives background information about each of these standardized tests, as well as describes their grading scale and their uses.

“Many students and parents alike get confused among the various standardized tests taken during high school for use either getting into or placing out of college classes,” explains Rivera. He continues: “SAT and ACT scores both are used to evaluate a candidate’s application for admission into college. The SAT 2’s, in addition to being used for college admissions, may also allow for college placement out of introductory courses. The AP exam, if the scores are sufficient, will actually give the student college credit for courses taken during high school.”
