NOVATTE Partners with Bright Computing to Bring HPC to the Masses in Asia Pacific

Singapore-based NOVATTE to deliver compute-ready cluster solutions with pre-installed Bright Cluster Manager; two engineering schools at NTU are first customers.

Singapore, Singapore, March 25, 2011 --( NOVATTE, the leading provider of supercomputing solutions in Asia, and Bright Computing, a leader in cluster management software for high performance computing (HPC), today announced their partnership and two new customers. NOVATTE will install Bright Cluster Manager® software on its GPU and CPU HPC systems, to deliver supercomputing clusters that are easy to deploy, use and support for enterprise, government and education mid-market customers in Asia.

Similar to the United States, the mid-market in Asia represents a significant opportunity for HPC systems vendors. According to Steve Conway, IDC Research Vice President for HPC, governments in Asia are actively encouraging industry to embrace HPC as a means to enhance productivity and competitiveness.

“There is significant pent-up demand across the world, including Asia, for workgroup HPC systems that sell for less than $100,000,” Conway said. “From now through 2014, IDC expects the Workgroup to be the fastest-growing HPC segment, with healthy growth also in Departmental systems selling for $100,000 to $249,000.”

NOVATTE’s primary focus is easy-to-administer HPC and GPU systems spanning both Workgroup and Departmental segments.

NOVATTE’s Twin-Based Supercomputers™ and eXXtreme™ GPU Cluster series are available in four packages that are quickly customized to meet customers’ specific application requirements. Combined with Bright Cluster Manager, these systems provide a compute-ready platform that enable users to effortlessly tap into the power of supercomputers.

Scientists at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore are the first to take advantage of the NOVATTE-Bright Cluster Manager bundle. The NTU School of Materials Science & Engineering purchased a CPU/GPU hybrid solution from NOVATTE, and the NTU School of Computer Engineering ordered an eXXtreme™ GPU cluster.

NOVATTE is the developer of cluster solutions and high-end workstation systems for the high-performance and financial computing markets in Asia. NOVATTE product portfolio includes high performance computing clusters (HPCC), GPU computing systems and low-latency systems. Offering a complete range of HPC services, consultancy and expert technical support, NOVATTE is uniquely positioned to be a one-stop provider of high-performance computing solutions in Asia-Pacific region.
