The Medal Play Golf Tour Visited Empire Lakes

Rancho Cucamonga, CA, March 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour visited Empire Lakes in Rancho Cucamongo Sunday. “It was a bit chilly, but the rain held off and it was dry,” said tour director Blane Freytag. “The guys had a great time playing a course that holds a Nationwide Tour event every year.”

Jay Rein of the Championship flight shot the round of his life with a net 63 to easily win the event. “Jay has been a fixture on the tour the past two seasons and this is Jay’s best score by about eight shots,” commented Freytag. “It’s nice to see players improve their game over time and learn the mental aspect of competing on tour.” Mitchell McCaughan was 2nd while Nicholas Wolf finished 3rd.

The Gold Division was hotly contested as Andre Fitzpatrick poured in 2 birdies to hold off the pack and claim his first victory on tour with a net 70. Michael Rivera had a strong showing in his first tour event finishing 2nd with a net 73 while tour vet David Onken nudged out Bob Pillow for 3rd with a net 74.

The Silver saw Stan Tankersley return to the winners circle with a steady net 68 to edge out tour rookie Robert Soto finishing 2nd with a net 70. John Maldonado finished 3rd with an even par net 72.

The tour returns to action at the Medal Play Invitational at Sierra Lakes in Fontana on April 10th.
