Online Language Courses for US Volunteers

Free language courses: Babbel helps Cross-Cultural Solutions’ volunteers to learn a foreign language before going abroad.

Berlin, Germany, April 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- People going abroad to help others will now be even better prepared when it comes to speaking the local language. The language learning system Babbel supports Cross-Cultural Solutions, a non-profit organization offering volunteer abroad programs, by giving volunteers a free 3-months online language course in preparation for their commitment abroad.

Babbel contributes with up to 2500 vouchers, worth $26.85 each. All volunteers will have an online language course in their preparation package; giving each of them the opportunity to either start learning a language or brushing up on their language skills. Babbel offers French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, English or Swedish.

All learning material can be accessed conveniently online. Using Babbel, the learner can start their online lesson conveniently at home or on the go - via PC, Mac or iPhone.

“Babbel’s teaching methods are state of the art – teaching a language in an effective, mobile, flexible and user-friendly way. So not only will our volunteers be well prepared for their journey abroad, but learning the local language will also be fun. It will bring them a step closer to making this special connection with the community. We are really happy about this partnership with Babbel and look forward to working together,” says Cassandra Tomkin, Director of Operations, Cross-Cultural Solutions.

“Knowing essential words and phrases when traveling abroad, even just a few words in the local language, can go a long way. We are glad to support CCS in their mission to bring other cultures closer to their volunteers,” Says Markus Witte, CEO Babbel.

CCS has sent over 25,000 people abroad to participate in volunteer programs in Africa, Asia, Eastern European and, Latin American countries. Volunteering abroad is a life-changing experience that helps participants to learn about another culture by taking care of orphans, playing sports with at-risk youth, sharing stories with the elderly or practicing conversational English with adults seeking new career opportunities.
