Representative Dan Flynn Achieves Passage of Local Bills

Austin, TX, April 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Wednesday the Texas House of Representatives agreed to the passage of three pieces of legislation authored by Representative Dan Flynn in support of Van Zandt and Hunt Counties and in support of military members who die in the service of their country.

History is made up of significant events which shape our future and outstanding leaders who influence our destiny. The contributions of Veterans to our history place them in an inimitable position. During their service they help us realize and rectify the great sacrifice it takes to ensure that the name and symbol of America burns bright around the world. Veterans hold that place of honor by their courage and sacrifice. HB 1409 would name the portion of State Highway 243 in Van Zandt County, between State Highway 198 and State Highway 64 as the Veterans Memorial Parkway in honor of their ongoing sacrifice and to honor those who have served. Representative Flynn stated that, "I am proud to support the initiative of Van Zandt County to show their support and admiration of Veterans and was proud that I could work to achieve its passage."

Hunt County also achieved a success with the passage of HB 315. This legislation creates the Hunt County Municipal Utility District No. 1, containing an approximately 6,635 acre tract of land, located partially with the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city of Greenville in Hunt County. The proposed District is located generally west of the City of Greenville and will consist of industrial manufacturing and distribution facilities, single family residential and some commercial development. Representative Flynn stated, "It is anticipated that the development within the district will result in a large amount of job and economic growth for Hunt County. That is important to the citizens who reside in our district and I am proud to have been able to achieve the passage of this legislation."

Representative Flynn also achieved passage of House Bill 74 which honors the service of our armed forces members who have lost their lives. The ultimate intent of this legislation was to ensure that the wishes of the service member who died in service to his or her nation have ultimate authority when it comes to the disposition of their remains. Representative Flynn stated, "I am gratified to support this legislation which honors the last wishes of the service member and eliminates potential conflict between family members regarding the ultimate disposition of a service member's remains.
