Two-Pack Special for San Diego Century Bike Ride Ends April 10

San Diego, CA, April 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Time is running out to take advantage of the Two-Pack registration special for this year’s San Diego Century Bicycle Tour, set for Saturday, May 21 in Encinitas. Sign up with a friend by Sunday, April 10 and save up to $89.

The fifth annual San Diego Century Bicycle Tour, beginning and ending at MiraCosta College, features a choice of three distances (37, 66, or 103-mile routes), along with exhibitor booths, tasty cuisine and live music.

The single registration fee for the 103-mile course is $105. With the two-pack deal, two riders can register online for $120.90 – a savings of up to $89 if purchased separately.

“The Two-Pack is a terrific deal,” said event organizer Jim Curl. “It fits right into our goal of encouraging more cyclists to participate in our region’s great riding routes. And, it’s perfect for riders who want to sign up and cycle with a friend while saving some serious money.”

If climbing the hills of the San Diego Century Bicycle Tour isn’t enough, then you can also enjoy the “Taste the Hills” cuisine available at select aid stations and at the finish line. The “Taste the Hills” experience will include a festival at MiraCosta College with local cuisine, live music and a sports expo.

Taste the Hills on your bike before the “Taste the Hills” festival. Start by climbing the San Elijo Hill on the 37- mile route around Lake Hodges, then add the Three Witches Climb on the 66-mile route up to Poway and finish all three with the challenging Purple Monster Climb on the 103-mile route up to Ramona. All rides start and finish at MiraCosta College.

Each rider receives food tickets for the “Taste the Hills” festival at the finish line. Family and friends are invited to enjoy the tasty cuisine from the various vendors at the food festival which runs from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The San Diego Century Bicycle Tour, produced by Event Media, Inc., will conclude an exciting week of cycling in the county as the week of May 16-20 has been proclaimed “Bike to Work” week in San Diego. One of the noted riders in the San Diego Century Bicycle Tour will be the Hon. Jerome Stocks, Chairman of SANDAG (San Diego Association of Governments) and Encinitas Councilperson, who is an ardent supporter of “Bike to Work” week. He will be riding the 103-mile course alongside his 15-year-old son, James.
