Philadelphia, PA, February 28, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Sweet Dream Bed – already renowned for handcrafted, custom made girl’s furniture sets – recently launched its foray into the boy’s bed market by unveiling several new and exciting one-of-a-kind designs.

Sweet Dream owners John and Joann Means were first inspired to expand their venture into boy’s beds when they created a special needs bed for Sean Vyn Duyn, a child who lives with severe disabilities. Because he cannot walk or talk, Sean’s mother asked them to create a special needs bed that would be safe, easy to access, fun, and engaging – but without the sterile look and feel of a hospital bed. The result was a comfortable and entertaining bed with a King Arthur theme that any boy would be excited by and proud to call his own.

Working from their Philadelphia studio, the Means designed a completely safety-conscious bed with easy wheelchair access and numerous innovative and worry-free features. But from the realistic-looking faux stonework to the castle towers with built-in storage space, Sean’s bed is an extraordinary blend of form, function, and boyhood fantasy. Special transparent acrylic headboard and foot-of-the-bed “banners” facilitate seeing in and out of the bed, a benefit to both Sean and his mother. An extra-wide safety gate is camouflaged behind an elegant dragon and lion motif and the faux finish perfectly matches Sean’s existing bedroom. The thoughtful, practical, and playful bed represents an amazing synergy of art and adventure.

Their next boy theme bed was a whimsical tree house bed with a loft bunk and a large play area underneath. Two realistic trees flank either side; a sturdy, safe rope ladder provides access to the sleeping area; and an awesome exit slide provides hours of imaginative playtime.

Asked to produce a radical surfer’s theme bed, the Sweet Dream team conjured up bunks disguised within a tropical beach hut complete with palm trees, bamboo, and a thatched roof. A stunning custom matching armoire keeps the clothes off the floor while the surf’s up and makes Mom happy as a clam.

While getting great responses to their boys’ beds, Sweet Dreams continues to craft beautiful girl’s bedroom sets, including whimsical and fantastic princess castles that are both fun-filled and graceful.

The Means’ energy and and ingenuity is boundless, and they’re expanding to offer full service bedroom décor and design in addition to their fantastic children’s bedroom furniture.

If you can dream up the perfect nursery or child’s room, Sweet Dream can design it for you from start to finish. Custom-made cribs, matching linens, thematic wall murals and furniture – chic and unique dream nurseries are only a phone call away. Sweet Dreams design services run the gamut from tots to children to young teens, and if you can imagine it, they can make it come alive in exquisite detail, from drawing board all the way through to delivery and assembly.
