eircom Selects RAD Demarc and EFM Devices to Provide Business Ethernet Services Over Fiber and Copper

Mahwah, NJ, April 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Irish incumbent eircom has announced that it has deployed fiber demarcation devices from RAD Data Communications to deliver symmetric Ethernet services to businesses across the country at speeds up to 1Gbps.

“The RAD solution met all our needs, it’s available in a number of different formats that we need and it’s easy to configure and manage,” said John O’Sullivan, eircom’s project manager for Ethernet delivery. “We think it will be a very successful product within our portfolio of delivery options.”

RAD’s ETX-202A was chosen by eircom after extensive lab tests and trials. The ETX-202A is a fully featured demarcation device that provides transport demarcation to Layer 3 business services such as IP VPN, VoIP and dedicated Internet access over native Ethernet access with high reliability and management.

Similarly, RAD’s Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) solution, the LA-210 DSL termination unit, will be rolled out across the eircom network later in the year to provide a copper-based solution for symmetric Ethernet delivery where fiber is not available or practical.

“RAD’s Carrier Ethernet solutions have gained wide respect because they enable easy Ethernet service deployment while ensuring consistent customer experience regardless of the available access technology,” noted Shoval Bolotin, RAD’s Director of Product Management for its ETX Carrier Ethernet Portfolio.

“By deploying our EtherAccess devices, eircom and similar carriers throughout Europe and around the globe have optimized their Ethernet business and wholesale services, extended their reach to as many customers as possible and enhanced their offerings with multiservice support, guaranteed priority per user and per service, and increased availability over multiple infrastructures,” added Keith E. Hoult, General Manager of RAD UK.

The RAD equipment is being supplied by The Kenton Group, a RAD Data Communications partner in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
