The Medal Play Invitational at Sierra Lakes

Fontana, CA, April 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Invitational was battled at Sierra Lakes in Fontana Sunday. “There were some tight battles today,” said tour director Blane Freytag. “The level of play continues to improve as the season moves along.”

The Championship Division came down to the final hole where Shaun Clark drained a 40 foot downhill, snaky putt for birdie to capture his second victory on tour this year by a single shot. Runner up Jay Rein had a chance to tie, but narrowly missed his putt. The day was up and down for both players in a hard fought match.

Bob Pillow of the Gold Division brought his “A” game to the tournament and shot his best round on tour to easily win his first Major. Virgil Mink and Alan Forbes also shot great rounds, but were no match for Pillow on this day.

The Silver Division saw Greg Widman find his way back to the winners circle for the first time this year over coming Chuck Thomas, last year’s Silver Division’s Player of the Year for the victory. Widman and Thomas have had many great battles the past two years, but the day belonged to Widman this time. Lou Alvarez took 3rd with a card playoff over Greg Christie.

The tour returns to action at the Westin Mission Hills (Gary Player) in Rancho Mirage, CA on Sunday, May 1st.
