Death Cat Entertainment Announces World Premiere of “Saying Goodbye”

The short indie film "Saying Goodbye" will have its world premiere this Friday, April 22 at the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival.

Columbia, SC, April 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Brian Rish and Jocelyn Rish, Lowcountry natives and sibling filmmakers, are proud to announce the world premiere of their short film “Saying Goodbye” at the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival on Friday, April 22 at 2:30pm at the Carmike Broadway 16 movie theater.

“After all the hard work of the cast and crew, we’re thrilled to introduce our film to the world,” said Jocelyn Rish. “The entire process has been an amazing experience.”

“Saying Goodbye” is a heart-warming drama inspired by Oscar, the death-predicting cat who lives in a Rhode Island nursing home and can accurately predict the death of the home’s residents. The film tells the story of Alma (played by Rebecca Koon), who arrives at a nursing home lost and depressed after losing her family in a tragic accident. Her spunky new neighbor Eunice (played by Edith Ivey from “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) befriends Alma and encourages her to enjoy life again. Soon this dynamic duo are kicking up their heels and entertaining the residents and staff with their antics. But when the home’s mysterious death-predicting cat sets his sights on the two women, their carpe diem spirit is put to the test.

“At its core, our film is about living life to its fullest,” said Brian Rish. “But you’ll definitely want to bring some tissues to this one.”

“Saying Goodbye” will also be screening at the Charleston International Film Festival on Saturday, May 21 at 3pm at the American Theater.

"Saying Goodbye" is a winner of a grant from the 2009 SC Film Commission Production Fund. As part of the grant, students from the University of South Carolina and Trident Technical College were paired with the industry professionals working on the film to learn the ins-and-outs of filmmaking.

Death Cat Entertainment, LLC was founded in 2009 by sibling filmmakers Brian Rish and Jocelyn Rish to produce the short film "Saying Goodbye," a winner of the SC Film Commission Production Fund.
