Gifted Young Healer Comes of Age in Soujon’s Journey, Published by INDI Best

Marlee Morgan has woven a magic fable of the people of Sky Mountains and of a young girl, Soujon, who sheds layer after layer of adolescent naiveté as she discovers her true gifts and, when tested by evil, realizes the depths of her inner strength.

Las Vegas, NV, April 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Children’s author Marlee Morgan announced today the release of Soujon’s Journey, published by INDI Best of the INDI Publishing Group. Morgan’s novel for young adults is a coming of age tale that takes the young Soujon from the innocence of youth to a mature strength she is able to find in herself as she faces the increasingly grave circumstances that test her core beliefs.

Soujon is a young maiden among the Sky Mountain people, a gentle sort who live simple, clean lives in a village where vermin and disease are not known. The Sky Mountain people have four basic laws: “If harm it does none, do as you will”; “be kind in spirit”; “be in harmony with your surroundings; and “be clean in body, mind and spirit.”

Everyone in the land of Sky Mountains has a special gift. They also all can “thought-speak” and float objects in the air instead of carrying them. They are proud of their gifts and of Soujon, the young girl with twinkling green eyes who is studying the healing arts and is on her way to becoming a truly gifted healer. She is always happy, but she is adventurous.

When Soujon meets a stranger from the village of Cyane who courts her, her father tells her, “He is a danger to us. He will bring temptation.” Soujon is soon to be a woman, though, and she joins in Union with the stranger, Tourman, and returns with him to his village and the unclean, uneducated and frightening people she finds who live there. Soon Soujon begins to heal the ailing Cyane townspeople.

Tourman, however, begins to change when his wife is with child and he claims he will own her and own the life within her body. She soon discovers she will be having twins as her two children-to-be, whose powers are great, begin talking to her from the womb. Soujon then realizes she might not be able to escape the evil threats of Touran not only to her, but – as he violently reveals to her one evening -- to her Sky Mountain people, as well.
