Print Science Launches Designer, Making Design Online Functions Available for Any Shopping Cart

Kittery, ME, April 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Print Science announces the launch of Designer, offering Design Online (Web-to-Print) functions that can be integrated into any website using an open-source shopping cart.

The Designer is intended for those websites selling printed items such as T-shirts, greeting cards, calendars, invitations and banners that want to offer customers the ability personalize their item prior to printing. Many of these stores use open-source shopping carts and can integrate the Designer into their shopping cart. Print Science has already released free-of-charge plugins for Magento, Joomla/Virtuemart, ZenCart and osCommerce.

The Design Online session is launched from the shopping cart via an API call to Print Science's Designer servers. The Design Online process takes place inside a Flex application running in the customer's browser. After the customer completes the Design Online process, the customer returns to the shopping cart for checkout and the Designer server creates a new, high-resolution PDF file that the store owner can download and print.

“Up until now, if you wanted real Design Online abilities, you had to purchase a complete Web-to-Print solution which was both complex and beyond the reach of many small shop owners,” says John Weissberg, President of Print Science. “With the Designer, we have unbundled the Design Online function from our Web-to-Print solution and made it available at a very low cost to shop owners using one of the many open-source shopping carts.”
