Dr. Maeve O’Connor, Recognized as One of the Best Doctors in America, Joins SRxA as an Advisor to Its Allergy Group

Washington, DC, May 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Strategic Pharmaceutical Advisors (SRxA), a leading U.S. healthcare strategic marketing consulting and education firm, is delighted to announce that Maeve O'Connor, MD, FACAAI, FAAAAI has become an independent clinical Advisor to its Allergy Group.

Dr. O’Connor practices at the Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center, a synergetic regional care center that sees over 10,000 new patients and provides ongoing care to more than 22,000 existing patients annually. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at UNC Charlotte, NC.

Dr. O’Connor earned her MD degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and completed her internship and residency at the University of Texas and Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, TX.

She served as Chief Medical Resident for one year in Texas prior to moving to Denver, CO, where she completed her Fellowship training at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She is Board Certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. O’Connor is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Asthma Allergy and Immunology and the American College of Asthma Allergy and Immunology. She serves as President-Elect for the Southeastern Allergy Society and is a member of the Clinical Immunology Society, the American Medical Association and the North Carolina Medical Society. She is the President-Elect of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society and serves on several committees. She has been selected by her peers to be included in the Best Doctors of America 2011-2012 Database. Dr. O’Connor has been one of Charlotte Magazine’s "Top Doctors" for both Adult Allergy/Immunology and Pediatric Allergy/Immunology from 2007 to2010.

Dr. O'Connor is a member of the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, the American Latex Allergy Association, and the Primary Immunodeficiency Foundation. She has published research articles on desensitization immunotherapy, asthma, and food allergy. She is currently involved in clinical research and is a preceptor for Pediatric, Family Medicine and Internal Medicine residents at Carolinas Healthcare Systems. She is one of the medical advisors for Parents of Allergic Kids, a support and resource group started by parents of food allergic children.
