Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Rogers Hosts Property Tax Appeal Seminars in Thornton Township for Over 600 Residents

Commissioner Rogers hosted two property tax appeal seminars in Thornton Township. Both seminars allowed hundreds of taxpayers to receive information on how to appeal their property taxes.

Chicago, IL, May 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Commissioner Larry R. Rogers, Jr., hosted two informative community outreach events in Thornton Township to encourage over assessed property owners to appeal their property taxes.

The tax appeal forums were held at Thornton Township Hall (333 East 162nd Street, South Holland, IL) and Thornton Fractional North High School (755 Pulaski Rd., Calumet City, IL). Elected officials from the area attended to support Commissioner Rogers in his efforts to assist residents, and to provide information to the over 600 residents that submitted over 1000 appeal forms.

“It’s important for people to know about our outreach endeavors,” Commissioner Rogers states. “We go out into our communities and educate taxpayers on how to appeal their assessments for a reduction in their property taxes.” This process is done through the community outreach forums.

The Thornton Township forums consisted of a brief meet and greet, followed by a presentation by Commissioner Rogers and his staff. After the presentation, attendees posed questions they had regarding the property tax appeals process. Lastly, Commissioner Rogers and his staff assisted taxpayers with filling out their appeal complaint forms.

Commissioner Rogers will continue to host several tax appeal forums until the final filing deadlines in mid May.
