NaturEner Announces Commencement of Operations for the NaturEner Operations Center

San Francisco, CA, May 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- San Francisco, California based NaturEner USA, LLC, a renewable energy company, announced today the commencement of operations for its NaturEner Operations Center, a fully enabled, state-of-the-art, 24/7, real-time desk located in NaturEner’s San Francisco Headquarters, with the purpose of supporting both commercial and operational functions for NaturEner’s operating projects. NaturEner currently owns and operates the 210MW Glacier wind project in Montana and expects to begin construction of the new Rim Rock wind project, an up to 300MW facility also located in Montana, in 2011. An agreement with a Tax Equity Investor for the financing of the first phase of the Rim Rock project was also recently announced.

The Glacier project operates in real-time by scheduling and trading energy within NaturEner Power Watch, NaturEner’s wind-only balancing authority, the first of its kind, which began operations at the end of 2008. The NaturEner Operations Center will support projects by providing forecasting and scheduling services, ancillary and reserve support including capacity and transmission reservations, in addition to supporting site operations and maintenance activities for all of NaturEner’s North American projects.

“The NaturEner Operations Center offers a fully integrated, “one-stop” approach for the management and control of our operations,” said Ken Young, NaturEner’s Director of Asset Management. “Aligning multiple functional areas, including wind integration services and O&M support, in real-time drives efficiency and coordination thus enhancing the performance of our projects."

“Forming the NaturEner Operations Center is a step towards optimizing our projects and providing flexibility within an evolving market in the Northwest. The NaturEner Operations Center will provide the necessary support required by the unique operating model of our Glacier project. Additionally, the NaturEner Operations Center gives us the resources to scale our operating business and to support our growing fleet, giving NaturEner a competitive advantage in the wind energy market in North America,” said Jose M. Sanchez-Seara, Chief Executive Officer of NaturEner USA & NaturEner Energy Canada.

In addition to the 210 MW of operating projects, NaturEner is developing additional wind energy facilities representing approximately 1,000 MW of aggregate nameplate capacity, with 700 MW in late-stage development, in Montana and the western United States as well as in Alberta, Canada through its affiliate NaturEner Energy Canada Inc.
