Now Live on iGavelAuctions.com: Asian, Ancient & Ethnographic Works of Art Auction

New York, NY, May 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- iGavel Auctions is pleased to present their Spring auction of Asian, Ancient, and Ethnographic Works of Art, now live and ending on May 11th, at www.iGavelAuctions.com.

The sale includes over 500 lots, of which the majority are Asian. Highlights include a Large Chinese Enameled Porcelain Figure of Amitayus on a Lotus Base, 18th / 19th century and a Sino-Tibetan Gilt Bronze Seated Figure, 15th / 16th century. Categories range from jade and hardstone carvings to furniture, lacquer, glass, ceramics, cloisonne, and metalwork.

The sale includes works of art from northeastern and regional collections and estates. Other highlights are a Chinese Carved Red Lacquer Bone and Hardstone Mounted Portable Box, 19th century; and an impressive pair of Chinese Parcel Gilt and Lacquered Bronze Standing Figures, dating from the Ming dynasty.

One of the strongest sections of the sale is the large group of approximately 100 jade, jadeite, and hardstone carvings dating from the Ming through Qing dynasties and into the 20th century. Of particular note is a beautifully carved and brilliantly mottled green and russet Jadeite Table Screen Set into a Carved Wood Stand. Among the smaller jade articles is a finely carved White Jade Rectangular Snuff Bottle, dating to the 19th century.

Another area of interest is a collection of 26 Chinese molded gourd cricket cages dating from the Qing dynasty and into the 20th century. Many of these have articulated shell or ivory covers and were part of a collection assembled by a Florida collector.
