Oxford PR Specialists BOTTLE PR Strike Gold at the Fresh PR Awards 2011

Success at the Fresh PR Awards 2011 for Oxford PR company Bottle PR with a Corporate PR Gold and Young Communicator Award win for Victoria McGovern, officially the Freshest Face of PR for 2011.

London, United Kingdom, May 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Fresh PR Awards ceremony, held recently at the Deansgate Hilton Hotel in Manchester, saw a double whammy win for Oxford PR company Bottle PR. Dodging some stiff competition, the agency struck Gold in the Best Corporate PR category for its "Poundland Gets the Middle Class Vote" campaign, and also achieved a Young Communicator Award win in the "People & Teams" class for senior Bottle PR consultant Victoria McGovern.

Carole Scott, Director at Bottle PR who oversees the Poundland account, said: “The whole team is chuffed to bits with the award. We have worked for three years to position Poundland as a serious high street retailer and our corporate pr strategy really has worked, with stories featured in the FT, Telegraph and The Today Programme. We know the client appreciates our work but it's fantastic to get industry recognition too."

Victoria McGovern, equally elated by the win, said: “I’m delighted to be recognised as the Fresh Awards 2011 Young PR Professional! I’ve worked hard, learnt so much and worked with some fantastic people and clients. I’m looking forward to my continued progression and my future in this ever-changing industry.”

Victoria, 28, joined BOTTLE PR in November 2009 as Executive PR Consultant and was promoted to Senior PR Consultant within nine months. She is currently working on a number of key accounts including Rentokil Pest Control, Oxford University Press, pawnbroker borro.com and Parker’s. Now awarded the "Young Communicator" Award as the "Freshest Face of PR for 2011," she can now officially lay claim to the Elite Young PR Professional title.

The Fresh PR Awards 2011, aimed to reward those who are going the extra mile to make their mark on the industry, recognising creativity and innovation in Public Relations and Communications, were hosted by industry guru Mark Borkowski and attended by an array of leading communications professionals from all over the country including representatives from industry bodies the CIPR and the PRCA.

Winners were announced following a two-stage judging process chaired by Ketchum Pleon Executive Chairman David Gallagher, who commented: “I have to say I was impressed and even surprised by the quality of the entries, the creativity and effectiveness of the work, and the breadth of entrants from around the country."

He added: "Several judges commented that reviewing the entries was like watching our business evolve in fast motion. Almost every entry pointed to the fast-moving trends shaping PR today: integration, social engagement and a conscious attempt to measure impact, and there was no discernible difference in quality between the categories."

Paula Kelsey, Director of the Fresh PR Awards, continued: “This was especially so amongst the excellent candidates shortlisted as the Fresh Face of PR, the Young Communicator. Ultimately Victoria McGovern was selected as the overall winner based on her passion for the industry, enthusiasm for the role she plays in her consultancy, and her clear drive for the future."

Claire Cairns, Director and Founder of BOTTLE PR said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won both awards. The Poundland team have been relentless in their approach to the corporate PR strategy and Vicky has made an outstanding contribution to BOTTLE PR since joining the agency in late 2009. She has helped BOTTLE PR become a trusted partner rather than just a delivery agency. This is what makes her a standout consultant – some people don’t achieve that by 40. She is a valuable member of our team and most definitely one to watch in the PR industry.”

The Oxford PR company is already listed by PR Week as a top 120 UK PR agency and has laid claim to a number of awards, as well as making it onto the sought-after "Recommended Agency Register," The Drum’s standings of the Top 100 marketing services companies outside of London.
