Harvard Jolly Begins Design of New $81.4M Public Safety Complex

St Petersburg, FL, May 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Harvard Jolly Architecture is proud to announce they have begun design on Pinellas County’s new Public Safety Facilities and Centralized Communications Center in Largo, Florida.

The $81.4 million project will include three new buildings on the 40 acre site to house the county’s new emergency operations center; emergency communications and 911 call center; emergency medical services; sheriff's administrative/operational headquarters and dispatch center; and vehicle maintenance and communications building. In addition, a new 800-space parking garage and central energy plant will serve the complex.

The facility will have the capability to withstand winds of over 200 miles per hour and the forces of a 10,000 year storm event. During a natural disaster or other crisis, the facility will remain fully operational to lead recovery efforts and provide for continuous emergency communications.

"We are very pleased to work with the county again to design such an essential project dedicated to public safety," stated Jack Williams, Harvard Jolly’s public safety design expert and Senior Vice President. "When disasters strike, this new hardened facility will allow for continuity of services that is critical to the safety and recovery needs of our community."

Harvard Jolly has designed similar facilities for Collier County, Charlotte County, and the City of Palm Beach Gardens. The project, which will include sustainable features to meet LEED certification standards, is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2013.
