BJAC Wins CPN Star Award for Construction of the North Carolina History Center

Local Architecture Firm Receives Honor for Work on Tryon Palace

Raleigh, NC, May 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Dan Fields, AIA, CMO BJAC, pa (http://www.bjac.com), an architectural firm offering professional services for specialized, complex institutional projects, has announced that the firm has been awarded the Construction Professionals Network of North Carolina Star Award for new construction over $20 million dollars for its work on the North Carolina History Center at Tryon Palace in New Bern, N.C. The Star Awards seek to honor the most outstanding new construction project in the state of North Carolina and are selected on the merits, owner satisfaction and challenges faced.

BJAC was lead architect and managed construction of the Center, which included extensive site design, extensive sustainability features, and innovative museum exhibits. The building’s design is modeled after the wharves and warehouses that once filled the downtown harbor.

“We are honored to receive this award from CPN,” said Fields. “It is rewarding to be recognized by our industry peers, especially for a project such as the North Carolina History Center that signifies the dedication and teamwork of everyone involved.”

Details:
- The History Center is located in the historic downtown of New Bern at 529 South Front St., sited on the Trent River.

- The 60,000 square-foot museum features the Mattocks Hall, the Cannon Gateway, the Regional History Museum, the Pepsi Family Center, the Cullman Performance Hall, the Duffy Gallery and other visitor amenities.

- The award was presented during a ceremony on April 30 at the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, N.C.
