Hunt Valley, MD, May 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Big 10 Track and Field Championships Held on Beynon Sports Track Surface

After an 11-year absence, the University of Iowa will once again host the 2011 Big 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Francis X. Cretzmeyer Track.

This marks the first time Cretzmeyer Track has hosted the Championships since 2000 and the second time since 1987. Cretzmeyer track was reconstructed and redesigned in 2010 by Beynon Sports Surfaces and features the BSS 1000 track surface, an IAAF certified surface that is found in a majority of NCAA track and field venues. The full-pour polyurethane athletic track is the optimal surface for training and competing, and promotes a high energy return for record-setting times without the risk of injury.

“It is always great to hear of the successes of the athletes and the schools that you provide athletic surfaces for; we are pleased to see the University of Iowa hosting such a prestigious event as the Big 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships,” Drew Beynon, Chief Operating Officer Beynon Sports Surfaces “We look forward to seeing the records fall on their state of the art Beynon track.”

The Hawkeye have three champions from the 2010 Championships returning to defend their crowns in the Javelin throw, 400 meter run and the 400 meter hurdles. Entering the Championships Iowa has the top seed in four of the events; 200m, Javelin throw, 800m and the women’s 1,600m relay team. In addition, the rest of team looks to continue their winning ways in front of a raucous home crowd.
