85th Annual Villanova Preparatory School Commencement Set

Ojai, CA, May 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Celebrations for the 85th annual graduation at Villanova Preparatory School begin with a Baccalaureate Mass at 7 pm on Friday, May 27, at St Thomas Aquinas Parish, located at 185 St. Thomas Drive in Ojai.

Commencement exercises are set for 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 28, in the Villanova Grotto. The ceremony will be presided over by the Very Rev. Gary Sanders, O.S.A., prior Provincial of the Province of St. Augustine.

The commencement address will be delivered by Mr. Edwin Hearn, President of St. Augustine High School of San Diego, a Catholic, college-preparatory secondary school for young men from ninth through twelfth grades. St. Augustine’s is owned and operated by the Order of St. Augustine.

The 2001 graduating class consists of:
• 36 females, 43 males
• 53 day students, 26 resident international students
• International Students come from five different countries (China, Taiwan, Japan, Myanmar, South Korea,) with over 12 different ethnic backgrounds/languages spoken.
• Day Students have come from over 30 different feeder schools throughout the county.
• 100 percent going to college: Boston College, Boston University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Claremont McKenna, Fordham University, Georgia Tech, Georgetown University, George Washington University, Lewis & Clark College, Middlebury College, New York University, Notre Dame, Pepperdine, Reed, Santa Clara, University of California: Los Angeles, Berkeley, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Irvine, University of Chicago, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, University of Texas, Austin, Villanova University.
• Class of 2011 did 4535 hours of Christian Service for organizations like Habitat for Humanity.
• The senior gift to the school was a new Alma Mater banner for gym.
