ABC11 Eyewitness News to Debut 4 P.M. Newscast May 26

New Local Program Features Anchors Frances Scott, Fred Shropshire; First N.C. Station to Provide News Coverage Weekdays from 4 P.M. Through 7 P.M.

Raleigh, NC, May 22, 2011 --( ABC11 Eyewitness News ( has announced the station will debut the area’s first daily 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. newscast starting Thursday, May 26, with North Carolina natives and ABC11 reporters Frances Scott and Fred Shropshire serving as anchors. Broadcasting live from “The Raleigh Eyewitness News Center,” a state-of-the-art street-level studio in downtown Raleigh, ABC11 will deliver the first look at breaking news, weather and traffic and will cover the latest national and world headlines as well. Chief Meteorologist Chris Hohmann will provide the ABC11 First Alert Forecast for weather, while other members of the ABC11 news team will offer updates that will include daily stories to help viewers save money. The show will lead into ABC11’s 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts followed by ABC World News with Diane Sawyer at 6:30 p.m. and provide viewers in the heart of Carolina with three hours of coverage that will fulfill ABC11’s promise of “Keeping you connected.”
