Joe Piscopo Brings a Night of Comedy and Sinatra to the Ridgefield Playhouse

Ridgefield, CT, March 15, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Television, film, theater, nightclubs—all fields in which Joe Piscopo has won the acclaim and the affection of millions. Now, though, he can add The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts to his list, as he is going on its stage with his show, “Joe Piscopo sings Sinatra” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 7. Lexus of Westport is underwriting the show, which Ole Blue Eyes himself endorsed.

For almost 20 years, Joe Piscopo has proven to be one of show business’s brightest lights. After stints as a disc jockey (playing a whole lot of Frank Sinatra, we can presume) and dinner-theater performer, he turned to comedy, landing in 1980, on the one-and-only Saturday Night Live. By the time he left the show in 1985, Joe had made his mark, thanks to his wide range of hilarious original characters and impersonations, namely Frank Sinatra, who repeatedly acknowledged his enjoyment of seeing himself as Joe saw him (maybe Frank even got some tips).

Joe Piscopo recently won acclaim for his dramatic guest-starring roles on the NBC drama, “Law and Order.” He has also been on the HBO series “Arli$$,” as well the Nickelodeon comedy series, “The 1000 Deeds of Eddie McDowd” (his voice), and yes, that was Joe as Santa Claus in the ABC special, “Dear Santa.” However, on stage, crooning Sinatra, he is even better.
