Talamas Broadcast Designs and Installs New Sound System for Local Parish
Talamas was called upon to design a replacement sound system for St Eulalia's Parish, Winchester, MA.
Newton, MA, May 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- For over 30 years, Talamas Boston has been a provider of the highest quality audio and video equipment rentals and sales in the New England area. Talamas was called upon to design a replacement sound system for St Eulalia's Parish, Winchester, MA. They required an updated sound system that would meet the needs of their growing parish. The previously installed system would need to be completely replaced, however St. Eulalia’s Operations manager John Russo required that the existing system would need to continue to function while the new system was installed. This presented a few challenges in terms of the time frame of the installation. However, with careful planning the system was completely installed and functional within two working days.
It was decided during the site visit that the most effective system would consist of several speaker cabinets rigged from the ceiling grid structure in “zones” of coverage as opposed to a wall-mounted option in which the center section would be left without direct coverage. Rigging the speaker cabinets would allow effective coverage of the center section of the church while using fewer total cabinets. This would help to keep both volume and costs low, while giving all listening areas of the church smooth even coverage. Due to both their aesthetic appeal and efficient design, Fulcrum Acoustic Prophile series speakers were chosen. St Eulalia is a busy parish; services are held daily and multiple services are held on Sundays. This meant that the system had to be user friendly, but durable and consistent enough to require very little adjustment from day to day.
The new sound system consists of Fulcrum Acoustic speaker cabinets being driven by a DBX Drive Rack 4820 processor and QSC amplifiers and Sennheiser wireless and wired microphones. All the equipment is racked and neatly is neatly tucked away. The system is both user friendly and reliable with little to no adjustment needed on a daily basis. The congregation is very pleased with the new system and has reported back that there isn't “a bad seat in the house.”
