A new showing of mixed media paintings based on international monetary influences is drawing attention for Artist Steve Williams.

Jacksonville, FL, May 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Artist Steve Williams has launched a new website and blog to share his art and poetic vision. The site, www.SteveWilliamsStudio.com features “Currency,” Williams’ latest body of work, which was inspired by the artistry and graphic elements of currency that Williams encountered during his travels around the globe. Also on tap at the new website is Williams’ blog, “Making Cheddar.” This rich and creamy blog about art, the artistic process and other savory tidbits is served up for the enjoyment of fellow artists, creative professionals, Williams’ patrons and anyone looking for a fresh, quirky muse to spark up their day on the fly. While Williams is no novice to art, his latest series, “Currency,” has been ratcheting up his reputation since a successful recent showing of his work in a Miami, Florida gallery. “The inspiration and energy I have received from engaging Miami and the city’s burgeoning art scene has really been evident in my current series and my drive to push the boundaries of this body of work for years to come,” says Williams. Williams’ paintings, including Passion of the World with Pioneer Chaser featuring Andrew Jackson and Exploration of Becoming featuring Queen Elizabeth, are among a variety of mixed media on panel and mixed media on canvas paintings that can currently be viewed at Stellers Gallery in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He is the cover story, The Color of Steve Williams’ Money, in the May/June issue of Arbus Magazine currently on newsstands.

Williams’ design aesthetic has been shaped by his family business – Harbinger, formerly Quality Sign Company – which seeded his love for graphics, his depth of applied design and strong materials IQ. His art career began to prosper in 1997 when he opened Pedestrian, a Gallery of Contemporary Art. In 1999 he had a one-man, sold out show in New York City and opened Brooklyn Contemporary Art Center in Jacksonville. He went on to open Spiller Vincenty Gallery in 2001 and helped launch Push 2 Gallery in 2003. Last year, Williams was invited to participate in Downtown Jacksonville's Off the Grid program in addition to opening Williams Cornelius Gallery. He serves as President of Harbinger and pursues his art simultaneously – one inspiring the other in continuum. His work is in private and corporate collections, including Regions Bank, The City of Jacksonville, Johnson & Johnson, Bryant Gumbel, The Ritz Carlton Resorts, Westin and Fidelity National Financial.
