)-- In step with the recent launch of the Legacy Wellness Program at Georgia’s Lake Lanier Islands Resort, Brian Conley – Head PGA Golf Professional for the Southern lakeside destination – took a cue from the past to bring the modern concept of Wellness to Legacy on Lanier Golf Club with the debut of the Legacy P.A.R. Program. The P.A.R. (Performance + Activity = Results) Program represents a nod to the Golden Age of Golf with an entirely new twist. Designed to complement the resort-wide health and wellness initiatives, in its most basic terms the P.A.R. Program promotes and incentivizes golfers to walk again.
Golf carts first appeared on the scene in the 1950’s, but the game of golf has been enjoyed by players on foot for centuries. By incorporating a classic caddy program with specially designed ultra lightweight “walking” golf bags by Mizuno and attractive incentives, Legacy on Lanier is endorsing the concept of health and well-being on the golf course. The introduction of special “Wellness Hours” reserves the final available hour of tee times each weekday for walking rounds of golf for as little as $20 per player and a series of Open Walking Tournaments are planned throughout the season. On Wellness Wednesdays, professional caddies will be paired per player and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. With advance reservations, a foursome can enjoy golf with professional caddies any day of the week.
“Legacy on Lanier is the ideal setting for a program such as this,” explains Conley. “The scenic topography offered by the amazing Legacy on Lanier course, with its rolling hills and stunning views of the lake at every turn, is every bit as challenging as it is beautiful. With a light lakeside breeze at your back and a golf club in your hand, golfers will find that the concept of wellness can be a wholly enjoyable experience. Of course, for golfers who prefer to ride between holes, a full fleet of golf carts is theirs for the choosing.”
Following a recent redesign by Billy Fuller, the incorporation of heat-resistant MiniVerde Bermuda throughout the course, and the provision of complimentary food and drinks* to its guests – Conley maintains that as word spreads, Legacy on Lanier is rapidly gaining favor with golfers throughout the Southeast. (*excludes alcohol) “There’s really nothing like us out there for the Southern golfer,” insists Conley. “Aside from above-and-beyond levels of service and a terrific setting, at the heart of it all is a truly amazing golf course. On twelve of our 18 holes, the lake isn’t just part of the view – it’s an integral part of the challenging play. While the front nine is chock full of its own set of tests, holes 11 through 14 have been lauded as the most thrilling stretch on the course and dubbed by many as the ‘Pebble Beach of the South’. Even the most seasoned golfers will find that Legacy never plays the same way twice and has more than enough character to capture their attention week after week, season after season, year after year.”
Conley and the rest of his staff believe the addition of the P.A.R. Program to the broad assortment of offerings at the Club – such as the Legacy Partner Program, personal performance evaluations powered by Titleist, and one-on-one instruction with a PGA-certified instructor – will serve to rank Legacy on Lanier second to none among other public and semi-private clubs in Northeast Georgia. In addition to daily golf outings, the Legacy on Lanier staff welcome the opportunity to help guests plan golf vacations – with customizable golf packages for groups of all sizes, skill levels, and personalities featuring luxury accommodations, dining, and other amenities at Lake Lanier Islands Resort.
