Distance Educator Makes e-Connections with Students

Cengage Education is continuing to look for ways to engage its students and to offer up to date information available to students and the public alike.

Sydney, Australia, June 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Australia’s pioneering distance educator, Cengage Education, is connecting with tech-savvy students and graduates via a monthly eNewsletter that features a range of news and features as well as interviews with students themselves.

Launched in mid-April, the inaugural edition of the InformED newsletter featured a blend of study tips, news, careers and salary information and interviews, and was an immediate hit, receiving around 2000 clicks within a few days of publication.

“We have been delighted with the early response to the newsletter,” Cengage Education CEO Anthony Bohm said. “We really want to engage students, and InformED is doing that by being informative and inviting participation.”

Each edition of the newsletter focuses on a particular faculty, with the theme for the first edition being Business, Finance & Accounting. InformED spoke to students about their experiences of distance learning, and featured contributions from senior staff on improvements to learning materials and the company’s commitment to quality.

Current students and graduates were also invited to contribute their story of how study had changed their life. The best entry won a $100 gift voucher for Ericka Holt, a Queensland graduate of Cengage Education’s Certificate IV in Business Administration, and was published in the May issue of the newsletter.

The second newsletter put the spotlight on the Health & Community Services faculty. One highlight was an interview with Pam Cahir, the CEO of Early Childhood Australia, about the impact of new childcare qualification requirements which take effect from 2014.

Currently under development (release date mid June), the June edition of InformED will include the latest developments within Cengage Education’s Design & Technology faculty, which has recently acquired two exciting new qualifications in fashion design through a partnership with the well-regarded College of Fashion Design.

As a distance educator with many students studying online, Cengage Education has been highly proactive in harnessing technology to enhance its communications. In addition to the eNewsletter, the company has a growing social media presence on Facebook where 1878 people have liked Cengage Education, Twitter where it has 701 followers and Linkedin with 704 connections.
