)-- Ned Jennings, principal at FreemanWhite, has announced that the firm has been contracted by Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C. to design a renovation for the hospital’s main kitchen. The renovation will provide additional food service capacity that will be needed when the Eastern Carolina Heart Institute begins operation in 2008. Capacity will be added by expanding the kitchen storage into adjacent areas and constructing a building addition to establish improved receiving, storage and retrieval processes for food ingredients. The renovation will establish improved ingredient preparation, food production and refrigerated holding areas. The existing ware-washing equipment and ware storage area will be revised to provide two workstations and increase washing output. The project will be phased to maintain kitchen functions while construction occurs and will encompass approximately 6,500 square feet.
“FreemanWhite has been fortunate to provide healthcare design services for numerous projects at Pitt County Memorial Hospital and we are honored to have PCMH as one of our core clients,” said Jennings. “The planned improvements will ensure adequate food service will be provided to the Eastern Carolina Heart Institute, when it opens.”
