Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' Balmoral is First Ship to Visit New Cruise Berth at Aalborg

The Danish port of Aalborg opened its new city centre cruise berth on 25th May 2011, and the first ship to dock there was Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ 1350-guest Balmoral. The new Aalborg Royal City Berth is right in the centre of the town, making it extremely convenient for cruise ship guests to go ashore. This quay is also used by the Danish Royal Yacht, Dannebrog.

Ipswich, United Kingdom, June 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On inauguration day, 25th May 2011, there was a ceremony on the quayside, with a performance of music and dance – Samba Show, performed by members of the Aalborg International Carnival, the largest carnival in Northern Europe. This was a delightful spectacle for crew and guests on board ship and visitors to the quayside. There was also be a ceremonial opening of the cruise berth, with Balmoral's Master, Captain Olav Soevdsnes cutting the ribbon. The City of Aalborg then presented a plaque to the Captain, commemorating Balmoral’s first visit to the new berth.

Olsen Cruise Lines, said, “We are delighted that Balmoral is the first cruise ship to berth at the new Aalborg Royal City Berth, and we are honoured that we have been asked to open the new berth officially, and to play a key role in this prestigious event.
