Cal Coast Academy Relocates School Campus to Del Mar

Cal Coast Academy is on the move – literally. The new state-of-the-art school campus is slated to make its opening debut in Del Mar on Monday, June 27.

Del Mar, CA, June 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In a move to accommodate its flourishing student enrollment, Cal Coast Academy is set to trade in its long-standing Solana Beach zip code for a new twenty-first century campus located in the city of Del Mar.

"As our unparalleled academic model continues to be the quintessential solution to traditional schooling and our student enrollment continues to grow, we needed to find the prime facility in the optimal location for our evolving development," states Cal Coast Academy's Founder and Principal, Ms. Jan Dunning. "This campus expansion will allow us to increase our student capacity as we simultaneously sharpen our focus and continually advance towards our educational vision."

The new school campus, which is set to make its opening debut on Monday, June 27, will be located at 445 Marine View Avenue, suite 105, in the Timbers Building. The facility will accommodate the school's current population and enable further development for the school's future growth. “With our 2011-2012 student enrollment numbers nearing maximum capacity, we have already begun discussing adding additional square footage onto our new campus site,” says Dunning.

The Academy, which is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), is also a member of the College Board, the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), is University of California (UC) approved, and is National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) certified. Cal Coast Academy first opened in the Solana Beach neighborhood in 1997 with just three students and three faculty members. Now, in its 14th year, nearly 50 Cal Coast students are served by five full-time and five part-time faculty members.

The new 3000 square foot Del Mar campus boasts a student computer lab, virtual learning, a library, substantial classrooms and world-class technology. Upon campus construction completion, each one of the eight classrooms will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment such as smart boards, video conferencing, and data/video projectors. "This cutting-edge equipment will provide our students with limitless academic benefits as well as open the door to global connectedness and local, national, and international classroom collaboration," states Dunning.

“Our new innovative school campus will help us further prepare our students for life in this increasingly complex, diverse, globalized, and technologically advanced society,” Dunning said. “Cal Coast Academy continues to advance towards the dramatic departure from the factory-model, teacher centered, paper and pencil educational model of the past while simultaneously remaining true to our founding principles and core values.”
