The Medal Play Golf Tour Survived Southern Dunes

Maricopa, AZ, July 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour survived Southern Dunes on Sunday. “The heat was brutal,” commented tour director Blane Freytag. “The Summer Sizzle certainly lived up to its name as it was easily 110 degrees today.”.

The Championship Division saw tour rookie Kurt Chambers continue his winning ways carding his second victory in a row with a smooth net 76. Todd Ringsmuth was right on his heels with a net 78.

Leonardus Leufkens didn’t let the heat bother him as he cruised to victory in the Gold Division and earned a battlefield promotion to the Championship Division. Player of the Year points leader Jerry Boysen was 2nd while Kevin West came in 3rd.

Matt Horner continued his winning ways in the Silver Division by outlasting Sandy Gourlay for the win. Horner has been on a hot streak lately winning his 5th event in a row.

In the World Golfers Championship Qualifier we had Jerry Boysen qualify for the National Finals. Congratulations as he moves on to Nationals in San Antonio, TX in late September.

The tour returns to action at Legend Trail on Saturday July 16th.
