Gordo, AL, July 13, 2011 --( Author Mark Jones won Second Place at the Southern Christian Writers Conference held in Tuscaloosa, AL on June 10-11, 2011. The story that won this prestigious award for Fiction Writing was originally printed in the Times-Record, a newspaper in Fayette, AL. The winning story was titled "A Good and Kind Heart" that was later re-titled as "The Dance." To qualify, a story must have been published during the last year.

Author Mark Jones has since added "The Dance" to a collection of stories to comprise a book, "A Story Worth Telling…" - BEST SHORT STORIES - Volume 1, and has just been released in e-book Format to Amazon’s Kindle and to Barnes & Noble’s Nook. KINDLE Format (ASIN: B004X7FS4E); NOOK Format (ASIN: 2940012872838).

“In addition to the Award-Winning Story, all of the stories are both touching and humorous,” Jones believes. “This is my first collection of BEST SHORT STORIES and I am thankful and blessed to have won an award with one of the stories,” said the author. “Some of these stories have been published locally and I believe they are wonderful stories each with different merits. Some stories are funny… Some are serious… As for some, they are just simply delightful.”

Says Jones, “I hope you will laugh, cry, and sometimes chuckle as you read these ten stories. If you do, then perhaps I have touched your heart in some way. These are all written in such a way that anyone could and should read them…. You won’t mind if your children see and hear them too. A great story should stand on its’ own credentials and these definitely follow those guidelines. Each time I attempt to broaden a horizon I have to hold my breath.”

Jones had just put the finishing touches to the last short story of this collection when he released his first book "The LONG ROAD to NoWhere" on the Kindle format (ASIN: B004WOXODU) with, and on the NOOK format (2940012871527) with Barnes & Noble.
