f8 Photo Studios Helps WakeMede Prepare Pediatric Patrients for Medical Procedures
Raleigh, NC, March 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- f8 Photo Studios in Raleigh recently completed a project for WakeMed’s quarterly "Families First" publication which serves the hospital’s pediatric patients and offers information on procedures and services. This particular project focused on tonsillectomies and will help the pediatric department show children what to expect when they undergo that process and procedure.

The photography session began with f8’s partners, Jonathan Kaz and Cara Galati, meeting and getting to know a recent tonsillectomy patient and his mother. With the help of a pediatric nurse and "Wrinkles," a hand puppet, they followed the process from initial consultation to recovery, documenting each step with digitial color photographs.

“Besides a colorful space filled with toys and a supportive staff, children get to place their choice of stickers on their surgical masks along with a follow up in the recovery room with popsicles,” Kaz noted. “How cool is that?”

Kaz called the process “the best learning experience. Cara and I love having shoots that educate us to new things.”

f8 Photo Studios has also documented a pediatric asthma class for WakeMed and will continue to photograph similar projects for “Families First.”
