Coho Café, Passport Unlimited, and “The Rack Warriors” join the fight against Breast Cancer on August 3rd-6th to raise funds and awareness for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™.

Issaquah, WA, July 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Coho Café is happy to announce a four day event to be held at both the Redmond and Issaquah locations. The restaurants have paired up with Passport Unlimited and a local team of 3 Day participants comprised of women who work at Coho Café and members of the Issaquah and Redmond communities whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Coho Café, Passport Unlimited, and the local team, known as, “The Rack Warriors” pair to present the event which aims to raise funds and awareness for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™. This unique event will allow guests to dine at one of the Coho Café restaurants and donate their Passport savings to “The Rack Warriors” and the Susan G. Komen Fund.

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™ is the largest breast cancer fundraiser in the Nation. During this event, participants walk for 3 days and a total of 60 miles. Abby McCune – the Rack Warriors team leader says of the walk, “People think this event is a cake walk. Not so. It is an endurance event with loads of pain.”

Abby McCune has been the team leader for the Rack Warriors for three years. She walks in memory of her dear friend Samantha who was lost to breast cancer at the age of forty. Samantha was a newlywed with a grown son, and says Abby, “was so happy to have found the love of her life.” Samantha died within a year of her marriage and less than nine months of her diagnosis of breast cancer. Initially, Samantha’s tumor did not show up in her routine mammogram and although she had pain in her breast, her doctor told her she “was young” and probably experiencing cyclical pain. She ignored the pain for 6 more months before she returned to a doctor who sent her for an ultrasound and diagnosed the breast cancer - too late.

Each year, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™ raises awareness through its sheer visibility. For 3 Days the women in pink canvas streets and cities. This event causes women all over the Nation to remember to “conduct regular breast self examinations and make annual appointments.” The event has, to date, invested nearly $1.5 billion to fulfill its promise of finding the Cure, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the World.

This year, Abby’s Rack Warriors is a ten-woman team and includes women from the local communities and the Coho Cafe. Coho Café is a distinctive and innovative community restaurant featuring Pacific Northwest Seafood with a Pacific-Rim and Southwestern flair. Guests can enjoy a high-energy environment and a truly unique dining experience with genuine hospitality and innovative cocktails and wine offerings.

Coho is asking people to come out to lunch or dinner on August 3rd through the 6th to enjoy dinner, cocktails and the company of friends while helping to raise awareness and funds by making donations of their Passport Savings. Passport Unlimited is a popular dining membership, which allows members to save at world-class restaurants including the Coho Café. With a Passport Unlimited card and membership, guests dining with a client, spouse or friends and family typically receive their second entrée compliments of the restaurant.

“During these four days, we will be offering our guests the opportunity to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness by donating a portion of their Passport savings to the Rack Warriors and the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™,” says Heather VanDorn a manager at Coho Café in Issaquah. Abby McCune, team leader of the Rack Warriors, hopes that “people in the community will support the Passport to the Cure event because every dollar raised will literally save lives.”

Coho Café’s goal is to help thousands of women with the money raised by Passport to the Cure. “These women are our friends, co-workers, chefs, employees, members of our community, our wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters; this disease has affected us all, and we are happy to be able to host an event that is dedicated to finding a Cure.” Steve Price, President Coho Café.
