Chef George Mavrothalassitis of Chef Mavro in Honolulu Earns the IFWTWA Culinary Excellence Award

The International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association's prestigious award recognizes the best of the best in culinary achievement around the world.

Diamond Bar, CA, July 25, 2011 --( The International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association's (IFWTWA) Excellence Awards program recognizes the world's finest industry professionals in several categories as experienced by the organization's journalist members. Chef George Mavrothalassitis of Chef Mavro in Honolulu, Hawaii earned IFWTWA's Culinary Excellence Award for his exemplary work as restaurateur, chef and culinary educator.

According to the IFWTWA member journalist who nominated Chef Mavrothalassitis for recognition: “His multiple course wine pairing dinners are fantastic. His French technique: superb. The restaurant, Chef Mavro, is tastefully unfussy but elegant. The service is relaxed but perfectly timed. He is also a passionate educator, mentor to young chefs and was one of the founders of Hawaii Regional Cuisine celebrating 20 years this year.”

The award nomination was carefully evaluated and recommended by IFWTWA's Excellence Awards Committee and the award approved by IFWTWA's Board of Directors.
