CenterTools Releases the Next Generation of Its DriveLock Software

New Version of DriveLock Redefines Endpoint Security

Cambridge, United Kingdom, July 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The threat to personal and confidential data is bigger than ever, due to factors such as cloud-based applications and mobile computing. Most organisations are aware of requirements to protect sensitive data, but many are overwhelmed by the tasks required to implement this protection. But an increasing number of organisations discover that a professional, comprehensive endpoint security solution can provide the required protection without the headache. The latest product in this category is the new version of DriveLock from security software vendor CenterTools. DriveLock 7 successfully improves protection while being even easier to implement than previous versions.

“We were able to make the most user-friendly product in this category even better,” stated Rainer Witzgall, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at CenterTools, during the product’s release. He continued, “Everyone wants to secure their data quickly, easily and reliably. DriveLock fits this bill like no other product.” CenterTools has simplified and largely automated the entire deployment process, from installation and configuration to ongoing monitoring. This doesn’t just make life easier for administrators; it also decreases the chances of data leakage due to configuration mistakes.

Administrators who are familiar with DriveLock will immediately notice many of the improvements. Common tasks have been streamlined and are all accessed from a unified console. Software updates can be performed using a cloud service and rolling back a configuration takes just a few clicks. Versioning of policies lets administrators restore any previous configuration state across the entire network. A dashboard displays a comprehensive overview of the state of endpoint security, allowing an administrator to quickly determine whether security policies for desktops, laptops, thin clients and virtual clients are correctly enforced. When an instance of non-compliance is detected, it can be further investigated quickly and easily.

Another big enhancement in DriveLock 7 is the inclusion of a powerful antivirus module. The antivirus engine, which has an extensive track record, has been completely integrated into DriveLock’s unified administration infrastructure to allow for comprehensive endpoint protection and monitoring. At the same time the antivirus module, which only uses nominal resources on client computers, includes powerful intelligence to detect new threats in addition to known malware.

CenterTools recognises that when it comes to endpoint security, well-intentioned users can be the weakest link. Because of this, DriveLock 7 includes a Security Awareness Campaign module that lets organisations easily deliver security alerts and training to user desktops, including announcements and videos. Creating a security awareness campaign requires only minimal effort and can address security risks that are ignored by solutions that only target technology aspects.

“For many companies maintaining the trust of their customers is not only important but essential to remaining in business,” said CenterTools President Mike Prieskorn. This view is confirmed by recent history. Many companies that have experienced leakage of customer data are still fighting to win back their customers’ trust—and their business. At the same time pressure on individuals in charge of protecting customer data is increasing. As regulatory and legal requirements tighten, executives may even face personal liability for data leaks. Comprehensive security solutions, such as DriveLock 7, are required to secure company data and avoid the staggering costs of data leaks.
