Sunbird Press Announces Books Completed: a Trilogy with a Prequel in the Historical Saga Genre Page-Turners / Fiction

Today’s newspapers prominently feature: abortion, mental impact on raped women, alcoholism, homosexuality, and infidelity in marriage. The stories in this Trilogy personalize the possible consequences of these situations; for example, “Hatboxes” reveals the anguish women and their families experienced before abortion was legalized in the Roe v. Wade case.

St. Louis, MO, July 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Readers find RC Marlen's mysteries/family sagas to be unforgettable. The books blend the accurate history of the times into the lives of two families, and the stories span over one hundred years.

“Inside the Hatboxes” A story of two families – Bartletts and Scagliones – whose fates become inextricably intertwined by love, birth, death and abortion. Within this compelling family saga, a fortuitous crime in 1932 leads to a mystery that forever binds the lives of these two families.

Tony Scaglione is a firefighter, bringing excitement and tension to the pages as he lives his fearless life. Late one night, a little girl climbs into his car and he leaves with her, not knowing that her parents are the Bartletts.

Claire Scaglione, his vibrant wife, finds her life changes when she moves from California to St. Louis; several tragedies, including a devastating encounter with a cab driver, remove all her happiness. The fun-loving and outgoing woman who was Claire ultimately is transformed into a secretive wife and misunderstood mother of Suzanne.

John Bartlett, the owner of the drugstore near the Scagliones’s home, becomes enchanted with the precocious Suzanne Scaglione. The two families become friends, and their children fall in love; this begins a collision course with fate and leads to a surprise ending.
