MUMC’s Frantz Appointed to Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission

Georgia Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle has appointed Elaine Frantz, director of trauma services at Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) in Savannah, to the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission.

Savannah, GA, July 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Elaine Frantz, director of trauma services at Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) in Savannah, has been appointed to the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission by Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle.

The Georgia Trauma Commission was established in 2007 to help address the state’s trauma care crisis. Specifically, the commission is addressing Georgia’s lack of adequate trauma centers and need for an organized trauma network.

According to Gage Ochsner, M.D. chief of trauma services at MUMC, “Elaine will be a valuable addition to the commission. Working at MUMC, she’s the director of the only Level 1 trauma center serving all of southeast Georgia. She’s seen the devastating effects of trauma, understands the importance of adequate trauma coverage and a strong trauma system in the state of Georgia.”

Frantz holds a nursing degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a
graduate degree in management from The College of Notre Dame in Maryland.
She served in various clinical, academic, and administrative positions in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Maryland before joining Memorial in 1991. Frantz is a member in the Society of Trauma Nurses, American Trauma Society, and Medical Group Management Association.

Memorial University Medical Center is a two-state healthcare organization serving a 35-county area in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. The system includes its flagship hospital, a 530-bed academic medical center; Memorial primary and specialty physician networks; a major medical education program; business and industry services; and NurseOne, a 24-hour call center.
